Nashville Scene Presents Movies in the Park
After 16 years in Centennial Park, the Nashville Scene and the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation are moving the annual summer event Movies in the Park to Percy Warner Park.
Community members are invited to a free movie every Wednesday night at sunset from June 6 through June 27.
The new location - at Percy Warner Park's cross country fields - is located on Highway 100 and is a short drive from downtown Nashville. Warner Park offers hiking trails, scenic views, golf courses, equestrian trails, running courses and picnic areas. "There is a great opportunity for movie-goers to arrive early and picnic and hike before the movie begins," explains Mike Smith, Publisher of the Nashville Scene.
Tucked away from the bright lights of downtown Nashville, Percy Warner's laid-back atmosphere is ideal for enjoying this year's slate of features: The Help, Shrek, Twilight: Breaking Dawn and Captain America. Movies in the Park offers a safe family environment for children, students, families and senior citizens alike.
Food vendors will also be at the park again this year to provide guests with a snack, dinner or dessert. This year's providers include: Moe's Southwestern Grill, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, Stonehouse Q, Kona Ice, the Grilled Cheeserie gourmet food truck and Moose Head kettle corn.
Guests are encouraged to pick a spot on the grass, enjoy the food and relax as the movie plays. Nashville Scene readers have voted Movies in the Park "Best Free Fun" for the past seven years.
