1W1C Vote Underway!

The historic Williamson County Chamber unification will soon be in your hands! Read the details in this article and link to the official Plan of Merger documents.

All three Chamber boards have unanimously approved the Plan of Merger for the unified Williamson County Chamber of Commerce. And here's an exciting fact - every member of one of the three unifying Chambers will be a charter member of the new organization!

In addition, membership in the Founding Members Council will be open until Oct. 1. Contact the transition team if you want to be a part of this group of leading community supporters.

Here's a summary of the voting process and links to the Plan of Merger and other documents for your review.

THE VOTE

Members of the three unifying Chambers have received an email asking them to vote on the unification through the secure, online tool SurveyMonkey. Each of the three Chambers has a plan in place to contact members who haven't provided an email address or whose email bounces back as undeliverable. If you have questions about your email after voting begins, contact all the Chambers where you currently hold membership for more information.

THE PLAN OF MERGER

In order for unification to take place, state regulations require that a Plan of Merger be approved by the members of the three unifying Chambers. The plan includes certain information about the unified Chamber, including key processes for the new organization and who will serve initially in leadership positions. For approval, two-thirds of those voting from each Chambers' membership or a majority of the membership, whichever is less, must vote in favor of the Plan of Merger. Once approved, the Plan of Merger then will be filed with the required governmental bodies.

Here's a summary of key Plan of Merger points:
- The "merger" of the Chambers will be effective on the closing date of Oct. 1, 2012, as cited in the Plan of Merger.
- Memberships with the three unifying Chambers will be converted to membership with the unified Chamber.
- The officers and directors of the unified Chamber, as included in the Plan of Merger, will serve until their successors are elected or appointed.
- The Executive Search Committee will be empowered to identify, recruit and hire a president/chief executive officer of the unified Chamber with a vote of two-thirds of the members of the board of directors.

THE INTERIM MANAGEMENT PLAN

In addition to the Plan of Merger documents, the transition team wants to share some supplemental information with Chamber members. This supplemental information, which can be accessed at the links below, covers the anticipated programming, dues structure and staffing for the new organization.

The items are part of an interim management plan the transition team designed to ensure that the new CEO and Chamber board would have the opportunity for input into these and other key areas as the unified organization finishes out 2012 and enters its first full budget year in 2013.
